Madrid is a great place for shopping and has many hundreds of independently owned stores and high-street chains selling a vast range of goods, throughout the city.

Whereas the departmental stores occupy the area in the vicinity of the Puertadel Sol and along the streets ofPrincesa, Goya and Castellana.

Also, there are open air markets often known as flea markets out of which Rastro is one of the most famous ones. It consists of all that is imaginable right form valuable antiques to used clothing. It also displays and sells collector cards, books, records, paintings, etc. Rastro is located between the Plaza de Cascorro, La Latina and the street of Embajadores. Madrid hosts many fairs in the month of May like The Feria del Libro Antiguo y De Occasion fair – for old and used books and The Feria del Libro Sobre Madrid fair – it features books about Madrid.
